Document Reviews

This page provides a short overview of ISO 19011 2011 Annex B.2.

During the course of an audit, management system auditors
are expected to review an auditee organization's documents.
However, not all documents are relevant or appropriate given
the scope of the audit and the objectives that must be achieved
and some documents must be treated with special care.
Accordingly, auditors should:

1. Establish whether or not the information in the
auditee's document is adequate and appropriate.

1.1. Make sure that the information is complete.

1.1.1. Make sure that all expected content
                               is contained within the document.

1.2. Make sure that the information is correct.

1.2.1. Make sure that content complies with reliable
sources such as standards and regulations.

1.3. Make sure that the information is consistent.

1.3.1. Make sure that content is internally consistent
and consistent with other related documents.

1.4. Make sure that the information is current.

1.4.1. Make sure that content is up-to-date.

2. Establish whether or not the information in the
auditee's document applies to your particular audit.

2.1. Make sure that the documents are relevant
and fall within the scope of your audit.

2.2. Make sure that the documents support
                 and
help you to achieve your audit objectives.

3. Establish whether or not the information in the auditee's
document must be protected and handled with special care
because information security regulations expect you to do so.
